Our day will begin in McAnsh neighborhood just south of the airport where we will visit the gardens of Andreas Daehnick and Justin and Kimberly McSweeny. The gardens are adjacent to one another, two stops in one! Andreas' garden contain 106 species of palm and cycads. The McSweeny's garden has over 90 species of palms and cycads. Both gardens have been in development since the mid 1990's.

Dave Martin's garden is almost within walking distance of the above gardens and is located at:

As an added bonus, Dave Martin has invited us to visit his garden that morning. Dave began planting young palms and cycads about 2003. According to Dave, his yard has some instructive examples of poor planning, very few unusual species (a mystery Dypsis might qualify), and some good examples of how rapidly small, cheap palms grow into landscape-sized specimens!

Jay and Lee Rathbun's garden is located at:
#695 29th Ave.
Vero Beach, FL 32960
